It caught my attention for two reasons. First - vivid characters, struggling with emotions so intense you can’t escape feeling of the overwhelming tension. A cop, saparated from his wife - still desperately in love with her, a poker player on the run from her dad - realizes her true feelings after loosing him, and finally a broken-hearted girl in a search for true love, but blinded to realize its right there in fornt of her. Second - the beautiful sound track and excellent performances from Norah Jones, Natalie Portman, Rachel Weisz, Jude Law and David Strathairn. High quality chick flick!!!

Sad statistics from Europe…

Today a bit from the social marketing corner… (or lack of it)

Sad statistics from Europe…

In the European Union, which set out its principle of equal pay for equal work 50 years ago, gross hourly wages for men were 17.4% higher than for women in 2007 (The Economist, 2009 - for comparison world average is 16%)

More sad news:
Many believe education is the key to closing the gap, but on the contrary, one
of the most sobering findings of this report is that more educated women
often find themselves on the wrong side of an even bigger pay gap. (The Global
Gender Pay Gap, ITUC, International Trade Union Confederation,
February 2008)

and a double edge-sword comes here:

While globalization can sometimes appear to be narrowing the gender gap –
in fact women’s pay is not rising at all, instead the increasingly competitive
global labour market is responsible for driving down the wages of men. (The Global
Gender Pay Gap, ITUC, International Trade Union Confederation,
February 2008)

I can’t help, but wonder why? Next thing are all the creative ideas… (I know world isn’t perfect, but) it seems like this is a good cause for a social marketing campaign targeted to all these ambitious, hard-working collage students (of both genders…).
P.S. Another question is who makes these paycheck decisions - CEOs, HR Departments, Presidents? I am really curious about the rationale!

Few good questions to ask yourself (if your inner voice is telling you to quit what your doing and move on to a better life…
What subjects do you most enjoy reading about?
What television or radio programs do you most enjoy?
What are your favorite hobbies or pastimes?
What type of volunteer activities do you prefer?
What subjects do you enjoy discussing with friends?
What subjects come to mind when you daydream?
What were your favorite school subjects?
If you ran the world, what changes would you make?
If you won a million bucks, what would you do with it?
Who are your favorite kinds of people?
How would you like to be remembered after your death?
How would you describe your political beliefs?
Who do you most admire in life and why?
What tasks have brought you the most success?
What tasks do you think you could do well that you haven’t yet done?

Then complete these statements

I am mainly interested in…

I believe most in…

I most value…

And then the most difficult one

For a good life, I feel I need…
